Digimon Adventure - Enemy Chara Songs

It's time for some more digimon music appreciation! I love character songs so much. I wish every anime had them, not just the big shounen ones. It's pretty funny that voice actors are just expected to sing no matter how small their character was in the show. IDK that I've ever seen a collection quite like this with all non-human villains.

A bop. I listened to it twice lol. Much like in the anime, it's Etemon bragging about how cool/what a super star he is. The song is interspersed with bits of Etemon reprimanding the crowd for not appreciating him enough and he eventually wins them over (or forces them to pretend to enjoy his concert?)

Etemon uses the "acchiki" personal pronoun. Is this a monkey version of atashi? Atashi is feminine, so is this part of his kind of effeminate way of speaking?

Amazing, iconic. Perfectly captures Gotsumon and Pumpmon's happy gremlin vibe. It was also a rap which fits their Shibuya obsession I think. Loved all the little references to Shibuya culture (gyaru, takoyaki, 109 department store).

There's a valley girl voice (or whatever the Japanese equivalent of that is) that comes in and kinda shit talks the boys, but they just go "whatever! We don't care what anyone thinks of us!" and I found it kinda inspiring lol

Okay, this one is really bad, which is a shame because Pinocchimon was one of my faves! For some reason they sped up the singer's voice so that they sound like a chipmunk and it's super grating....why. Also, the song itself just kinda sucks. Not much of a melody. Lyrics are decent, I guess.

Ogremon's kinda tone deaf. His ORAORA's are nice tho. His song is just all about beating someone (the listener?) up. Fittingly dumb.

This one was very similar to the Gotsumon and Pumpmon song but had more of a ska vibe to it. Very fun, despite all the potty humor haha. The nonsense words were very catchy and Sukamon and Chuumon switched off more evenly than Gotsumon and Pumpmon did in their song.

I learned something new, apparently "chichin pui pui" is something parents say to make kids feel better. It doesn't really mean anything and is more like a magic spell (like abracadabra).

Devimon - Dark Wing

A ballad-style song sung over what sounds like video game bgm, kind of a strange combo tbh. I don't really remember Devimon having a ton of dialogue, so hearing him sing this much feels kinda strange haha.

I wish this song was faster paced, Devimon sings verrrrry sloooowly

I said this was ballad-esque but it kinda devolves to talk-singing haha. I like the backup "~dark wiiiing~" singers. Dark Wing sounds like a Batman character.

40. Toko: When she stutters she sounds like that one mf from "It" and that kills me every time I hear it.

36. Byakuya: Cool VA, nice delivery of the lines, I just think it's overrated.

35. Yasuhiro: He was in 6 trials... and what did he give me? "OH NOOOOOO" sorry, he didn't cut it for me.

34. Chihiro: I like him (her, them? UGHH CHIHIRO GENDER DISCOURSE SUCKS BRO) but it didn't GIVE yk?

Decent Performance:

33. Ryoma: Very talented VA, but that's his normal range (a bit lower) and not many POWERFUL lines were delivered (unlike Tanaka's.)

32. Kazuichi (bc I alr did Mukuro): Ay I love Kazuichi, his performance was nice, just not the best yk?

31. Tsumugi: Haven't finished V3, I love Tsumugi but her performance is like her catchphrase. Just "Plainly-Plain" (might change later idk bro.)

30. Maki: I've grown to like her, (I'm up tp CHP.4 yippers!) but I'm WAITING for her to have her MOMENT where she's crying and screaming. I know she will. C'mon DR LET HER CRYYY-

29. Mahiru: She's decent, I like her, just not much giving yk?

28. Ibuki: Very talented VA, amazing and fun range, nice energy. Nothing jaw dropping, I enjoyed it.

27. Hajime: He drops some banger ass lines bro like goddam lil bro chillax buddy. I quite like it... I like when he realises it's Nanami and is in denial. Good job VA.

26. Mondo: AUGH HIS VOICE IS SO SATISFYING IMMA BE REAL- It's not the usual stuff his VA does but I enjoyed his performance.

25. Gonta: Ay better performance than his counter-part (same va) Hiro. He's pretty good so far, innocent too.

24. Aoi: I don't really remember trial 4 that well tbh... I didn't like it though. But I do kinda enjoy Aoi. She has nice pitch, and when she gets mad her VA puts alot into it, almost top of her tier gj.

23. Same VA as Aoi, I enjoy her performance. Her voice is fun and different, contrasting the rest of the cast with her accent. Bonus points for going from Aoi to Angie in 5 seconds.

NOT TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH!!!

22. Teruteru: Augh I love this stupid litte man for his stupid little voice. Even though he's a creep his lines are delivered VERY well, and even his accent is great. That's some talent that we NEED to talk about more often.

21. Sayaka: Babes talked three times in official-art moments and does NOT get enough credit. I enjoyed her scenes and wish that she was in a class trial.

20. Leon: Omg leosaya order?! /hj. Y'all sleeping on Grant George, like goddam. When he gets mad, he gets mad. Talk about Leon more, give this man some credit his performance was excellent!

19. Miu: Augh I don't know how to explain the itch Miu scratches whenever she speaks. Even her "VIRGIN WHORE" moment voice lines just AUGHHH. The VA was picked SO well here, it suits her perfectly and I'm tired of pretending Miu = Hifumi because they're both pervy characters. GODDAMIT MIU WAS USEFUL!

18. Hiyoko: I do not care what you say, she ATE. She fucking devoured that second trial bro, my respect went up when she did all'at. God bro I find Hiyoko mid, one of my least favourite characters, but god her VA is so talented.

17. Shuichi: I don't think I need to explain too much, but god SHUICHI!!! When Grant George is given the time to develop... augh. "Kaede... that's just so cruel..." YOU CAN HEAR THE PAIN. TALK ABOUT THIS MAN MORE!!!

16. Jill/Syo: I know she has tiktok sounds, but she did so well. She ate every single line up, she used all of her screentime so well! I genuinely love her performance, and I don't even like her!

15. Tenko: So talented... you guys please hear me out (I'M NOT BIASED AT ALL.) but when she gets official art and moments in trials that's when she flourishes. "QUICK! OPEN THE CURTAIN, ALREADY!" like so satisfying Idc what y'all say she ate it up.

14. Himiko: After Chapter 2 she just... utilised the rest of her screentime. SHE CRIED, SHE SCREAMED, SHE USED HER EMOTIONS LIKE TENKO SAID!!! I love Himiko, and she is super underrated.

13. KOREKIYO: <- THIS DUDE IS THE REASON I MADE THIS TIER LIST. GOD HE IS NOT TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH!!! I don't care about the incest plot, his FANTASTIC voice acting lets him off the hook.Not just when he snaps, but when he screams!

Listen to this exact moment. HE LITERALLY USES SO MUCH OF HIS VOICE, YOU CAN HEAR HOW WELL HE DOES IT OH MY GOD. "THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE WAS THERE, SHUICHI?!" LIKE PLEASE CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIM???

He can also speak like a girl he gets bonus points for that. Holy shit. I just love this so much. "No. I will not acknowledge it." like yes bbg u ate.

11. (I KNOW I SKIPPED A NUMBER I JUST NEED IT TO BE CORRECT!!!) Nagito: He goes insane, there's no reason for me NOT to put this here. He does so well, he went from Mako-Hoe to NAGI-HOEEE!!! He ate, I fear.

10. Mikan: WHEN SHE SNAPS AND GOES INSANE, OH MY GOD SHIVERS. SHE DID SO WELL. "WHY DOESN'T ANYBODY FORGIVE ME?!?!!?!?" LIKE I CAN HEAR IT SO CLEARLY SHE DID SO GOOD BRO AUGHHHH.

9. Nekomaru: "THIS IS NEKOMARU NIDAI'S FINAL FIREWORK!" "AIR CONDITIONERS?!?!?!?" "SHIIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!" He put so much power and energy into every. single. line. EVEN HIS SINGLE-FILE VOICE LINES!!! He made it sound so natural like he talks like that every day, and props to the VA for such dedication. Respect for Neko-Nation.

8. Gundham: Augh he delivers every line so beautifully in his trial. "THIS IS FOR THE TANAKA EMPIRE!" the power behind his voice and his hero-complex make me so happy. Every time he lost it in his trial I got LITERAL CHILLS. A fantastic perfect performance oh my goddd.

7. Kaede: I don't care what y'all say she WAS SO GOOD. "I'm nothing but a cold-blooded killer!" and that scream at the end of argument anament was FIREEE! I love her sm, and her VA did so much better as Kaede then as Kyoko.

6. Celestia: I dislike Celestia, but oh my god she did so well. The quiet reserved character snaps is definetely a chapter 3 trope favourite. I hate Trail and Chapter 3 THH, but that just shows how well Celes performed, her VA went INSANE for this role, and I love that she ate it.

5. Kokichi: He deserves this spot, he does so well, every single trial, every single performance, every voice line, every interaction. It truly embodies the spirit of "chaos" yk? (Just finished trial 4 and he deserves to be 3rd on the list.)

4. Kaito: LUMINARY OF THE STARS! I don't need to say more do I? (I'm lazy pls send helppp)

YOU POURED YOUR HEART AND SOUL INTO THIS PERFORMANCE!!!:

3. Fuyuhiko: AUGH SO SATISFYING, ESPECIALLY IN THE SECOND TRIAL. He does an amazing job, has fantastic range and AUGHHHHH HIS VOICE IS SO SATISFYING.

2. Ishimaru: The amount of sheer power in every voice line astounds me every time he speaks. From "I assert that the one who was murdered was Miss Sayaka Maizono!" to "Why are you all trying to frame him?!" and everything in between, he deserves this spot on the list.

Kirumi: All we see of her is calm and reserved until she snaps. She KEEP FIGHTING until the very end. You can hear the pain in her voice, how she IS BREACHING HER LIMIT during her "I WILL NOT DIEEEE segment." also, YOU CAN HEAR HER SCREAMING IN HER EXECUTION, let me show you.

My Movie Review: "Madame Web"

Whew....LAWWWWWDDDD..... Y'all where do I even begin? 😭😭

This movie was SO bad y'all.... Like.... I'm almost in shock at how bad it was lol... 😓

It takes a LOT for me to label a movie just plain BAD, so this is really saying something. It was awful... 😭

Like, you know a movie is bad when you and other people in the audience are laughing at how BAD the film and the acting is lol. 😅🤣 Seriously! My friend and I and a couple sitting beside us were laughing the ENTIRE movie at how bad the acting was.

You guys, the acting was so criiiiiiinge! 🙈 I seriously have not seen acting this bad by an ENTIRE cast EVER lol. It was so bad, I was literally sitting there laughing at the dialog and the delivery. The only people who were decent were Adam Scott, the other side characters, and the three younger girls who were playing teenagers (Sydney Sweeney included). Everyone else sucked wind so bad. I swear, I don't think I've seen a movie where not only the LEAD was doing bad acting, but even the VILLIAN in the film was such a baaad actor, omg. 😭 His voice was so robotic. He was so WOODEN. He sounded like he was just reading his lines. Half the time, I wasn't sure if he was really talking to someone in the room like that lol. His voice sounded so unnatural.

This movie made me appreciate DECENT acting lol. I never realized how just your VOICE and your delivery of your lines can make the entire difference btwn someone who's a good actor, vs someone who's a bad actor. 🥴

Dakota Johnson.... Okay.... I gotta talk about her cuz lol..... 👀 This was actually my FIRST time seeing one of her films, so I went in with an open mind ykwim? But CHILE! That woman cannot act. 😭 At least, not in this film! Half the time, her character was talking out loud to herself. 👀 Her line delivery was so bad, and her voice was so monotone and didn't fit some of the scenes she was in. It was so cringe to the point where the couple of people beside us were LAUGHING at how bad her acting was. 😭 I know Dakota is another NepoBaby, but I thought that surely her acting must be better than this since she's had quite a few lead films under her belt by now. But nope! I was legit shocked by how bad her acting was in this. 🥴

Not only was the acting bad, but the WRITING of this film was horrendous also! Stuff that should have been conveyed by a look, a glance, a facial expression, etc. was all SPOKEN OUT LOUD by Dakota's character Cassie smh.

Like, what on earth kind of writing is that?? I haven't seen writing and editing of a film THIS bad in a very long time.

It took forever for the real action of the film to even begin. It took over an hour and a half to even get to the "meat" of the film, and when you finally get there, it's like: "this was it???" 🥴

Sony Sony Sony!!! What is you doing??? Y'all know I try to defend Sony on here. I have a soft spot for them. But geez.... I'm sorry Sony, I cannot defend this movie lol. 🤦🏾‍♀️

What on earth??

What sucked the most though, is that we didn't even get to see anybody suit up in their costumes/uniforms/suits because we only got snippets of them in the future in costume.

Soooo basically, it really wasn't a "superhero" film to me. Like, it was all this buildup and buildup to NOTHING in the end.

At the end, my friend said that the movie was so bad that she liked it lol. 😅

I'm not going to try to sway anybody's decision....Go see it if you wish. All I know is it was so bad to the point of laughter out loud for me all throughout the movie lol. 😅🤣

You know how some actors OVER-act and it's so cringe?? Yea, it was THAT level bad in some scenes lol. Maybe not on THIS level bad like the film "Showgirls" ROTFL, but it was still pretty bad...

The Pros:

The three "teenage" girls and Adam Scott were probably the best parts of this movie tbh lol

It was so bad, that it was pure comedy for us after a while lol😅

The writing was HORRENDOUS in this film

Dakota's acting and voice was just awful lol

The Villain was awful and sounded like a robot. Most of the time, it sounded like he was literally just reading his lines off of a script rotfl 😅🤣

The editing was horrible also!

We didn't really see the protagonists become "superheroes"

Just plain bad!! I seriously haven't seen a movie THIS bad in a VERY long time. 😩 Thank goodness I have a movie membership and didn't have to pay full price for this, cuz I'd be PISSED! LOL

My little review of the Fallout tv show season 1. *SPOILERS BELOW CUT*

Okay so, I finally finished the show and omg it was amazing. It was fun and had a lot of references and poked some fun at the players who complained ( The radio show with the minutemen music). It was nice and I enjoyed it.

Section 1 review -The characters-

So the characters were fleshed out and fun, I enjoyed their designs, personalities, and history. The most fleshed out was probably The Ghoul AKA Cooper Howard. Which works because he is pre-war, and that was nice to have to give us a little tell of what pre-war was like. Though I would have loved to see more of it and the more mundane side. Like the average persons life during pre-war, or someone who was severely struggling. Maybe for next season? Anyways, he was fun and interesting. His design was very fun, like who doesn't like a cowboy? Then his personality is pretty complex yet also quite simple, he is an actor which makes that complexity of him as I can't really grasp his thoughts and actions completely. He is a character I understand yet also don't it is very confusing. Then again it was probably also because I could hardly understand him half the time because of the accent and the fact there was no subtitles and the ambient sound was loud as hell, as well as the fact that we didn't really get to see too much of him postwar in the same way we saw the other two (three? if you count Lucy's brother) main characters. If that makes sense...idk.

Any who, Lucy MacLean was amazing and adorable loved her so much. She was in my opinion the best vault dweller rep, though she seemed too stable. For someone from a vault she was very calm and seemed to handle violence well. Like we saw no apprehension in her actions and she was very optimistic no matter what. And I know that people can be like that okay! But for someone from a vault that never seemed to at least have violence she was way too calm. I was honestly expecting her to have a mental breakdown at one point or something similar, like she has seen so much and almost died so many times. I also see the naivety that she has but that doesn't really excuse the fact that she brushes off things so easily. Yet even so I really like her, she is fun and adorable. I just wish we got a more "accurate" version of someone who has never seen the horrors of the waste, especially since for most of it she had no companion to make her feel safe and keep up such a optimistic naivety. Though even so it kinda works considering how the vault dwellers of the games are?

Now Maximus was fun, I loved him but he was less developed than the other two. He had his goals but we missed a lot of the bonding that he had with Lucy and Thaddeus, and how/why their companionship changed him and his goals. Like I know it is there but it wasn't really shown, we know that he likes Lucy and he was hoping to be friends with Thaddeus but we don't really see the whole picture of why. We don't see the growth of it which really sucks because it could have been really fun so long as they do it properly. Then his backstory is still mostly unknown, like what was his childhood like before the Brotherhood? What was Shady Sands really like? But he was still a decent character. His motives were pretty clear and simple and he is what you would expect from someone brainwashed by the brotherhood, someone who was also disrespected by the brotherhood. Not much to really say and I hope we have him more fleshed out soon. Sucks my review of his character is so short because I really like him and his little cute romance with Lucy.

So overall I feel that the characters were fun and nice, great designs, nice voices, decently made, etc. but they were unfortunately a little rushed in some aspects making them less developed and rounded of characters, but then again it is a series and we have time skips in it so it kinda explains why that is.

Section 2 review -The costumes/designs-

Loved how everyone looked. The costumes were really nice and fun, love how ghouls looked like ghouls although a little too pretty still honestly. Would have loved to see some ghoul designs from the other games instead of well the fallout 4 style. But they looked good and pretty real in some sense. I do wish that we got to see more ghouls that haven't gone or were going feral and I think that they did some interesting things with them (i'll talk more about it further down)

The power armour was awesome, loved to see how they would work in "real life" and it is what I expected and how I think the PA frames work (I have my own little ideas of the power armour variants one being PA frames that we see in fallout 4 and TV show, and the other from games past that Fallout 1, 2, 3 and New Vegas).

I also enjoyed that wasters and raiders looked, well like how they should. I do wish that we got to see more of them but it was pretty awesome either way.

Then the sets were beautiful, would have love to see more wild life though, missed opportunity there but it is okay since its literally the desert. Hopefully we'll see some more creatures, and I was really expecting to see some scorpions as that land is perfect for them. Do wish that we could see more locations though, especially more with story telling just in the way they are decorated. Not much else to say about it all, other than I liked it and it everywhere felt like a wasteland.

Section 3 review -Lore-

Whoo boy, now the lore here is...okay. It is in line (mostly) with cannon and what I expected.

-Confliction with New Vegas :/

2296 that is the year it takes place, and it seems okay. But the brotherhood is strong which is weird considering that the brotherhood over west were either destroyed based off of Fallout New Vegas many endings, and because they are there that means that the independent ending might of occurred letting the brotherhood stay alive. Which then means that in Fallout 4 the brotherhood was not destroyed over there based off of the endings though you can make almost every faction not kill each other with the minutemen. Why did I come to this conclusion, well because they have a sister prydwen. That is labeled the prydwen despite having a different name..Oh and the T-60's being used also hint to that in some way. Which means that the west and east coast brotherhood most likely absorbed into each other. Complete speculation though but that is what I am seeing here. Either way the TV show does conflict with New Vegas in that spectrum. It also conflicts with the fact that the NCR's Shady sands fell in 2277 and blew up exactly when Fallout 3 takes place. (Or seemingly anyways based on the diagram which is hard to really know if it was 2277 or if that date was the decline and it exploded later, yet even so it also works because the NCR was in decline during New Vegas so Shady sands getting destroyed isn't the most outrageous thing.)

So that makes New Vegas's lore iffy in cannon if the TV show is to be correct and considered cannon, which then can also makes certain things cannon from fallout 4 because of how it mixes with New Vegas's lore and the TV shows lore. I know I don't really make much sense but I hope you can understand? This is mostly me just trying to fit the puzzle pieces of lore together when they don't really fit, and well just trying to concur what is most likely cannon because of the conflictions. (Not like we have an actual answer on what the cannon endings for fallout 4 and New Vegas are).

Then I do kinda find the drug that ghouls use to no become feral interesting, we never do learn how it is exactly made but it is cool. Unfortunately because of it's existence and the lack of it being in any game over west or ever having managed to get over east makes it a little odd. Plus it was made a long time ago too because Cooper needed it to help prevent him from going feral, otherwise he wouldn't be in the show. But luckily this drug is something in the lore we can kind of mix in well with just an explanation that it existed but we just never saw it because reasons, and the fact that we never actually really played as a ghoul character.

Then the new drugs that witch dude had was interesting and I am curious if Thaddeus will actually turn into a ghoul or if he just has some sort of cool healing ability now. Cause I could have some fun with that drug for writing and I need answers on if he's now a ghoul because of it and subsequently, how the hell ghouls seemingly can't feel any pain (Cooper shrugging off bullets and his finger getting ripped off), how ghouls seemingly heal so quickly and seem to only be killed by a full on headshot.

OOh then Vault tec being that ones who dropped the bombs is actually something I already knew. So I don't know where or when or how I actually learnt this but I did. I knew that Vault tec was the ones who dropped the bombs, they armed and launched them to both the US and China, thus making the two countries drop more bombs in retaliation the other countries who were allied also following suit (most likely anyways). Now the reason why this works and why I feel that it is okay that Beth decided to tell us who started it, is simply because of one of the main message of Fallout in general (though I will say that this main message is not the only one, and it is a warning to the world.).

There are no winners, there are no losers. War is a dangerous thing, with no good ending. People die in war, people suffer in war. We all lose in war. Humanity suffers. War is not something good, it is never something good, many know this. Yet humans seemingly can't help but want that destruction. Those full of greed push it, create problems as they take and take. Greed from those who already have it all, yet they can't help but want more. Fallout in its core is the danger of greed, the danger of history. How history repeats, how war never changes. How people all want to save the world but can't agree on how. How we all can't help but rush towards destruction, whether we want to or not. Fallout is the message of danger of the human nature, the danger of letting greed corrupt, the danger of everything.

This is why I feel that Vault tec being the ones to press that big red button works. They are greed in itself. They are what Fallout warns us. They don't care what happens because they want it all. And it is not just Vault tec that is the one to do this, they are simply the ones who are put on that spot light. In the shadows are corrupt people like the Enclave who use those with so much greed to allow their greed to flow as well. Like how the Brotherhood takes and takes hoarding the tech and killing anyone in their path. How Caesar's legion took over land that don't belong to them to make things better. How the NCR try and re-create the old world. How the institute wants to purify the commonwealth by destroying it and replacing it. How factions all have their own way of fixing things, yet all fall into that same trap one way or another.

Oh yeah guess what! My vault is cannon (not actually), in the scene where Vault tec shows off the vaults, you can see little America (Canada) has some vaults and with a good look at the map (or probably I'm basically blind), I could see that in/near the Rockies that there is a vault there. Near the border just like my Vault 21-B. I was so happy that there was a vault there even if it ain't my actual vault but heyyyy look at that eh? (lol) It's funny that I managed to create my own vault where one is actually located (well I'm pretty sure it is anyways), same with the other vaults that are up there, I managed to actually get the general location of them which are my hot spots of Canada (they are not in the exact spots though). BTW the hot spots are areas with vaults and habitual locations that aren't covered in snow. I decided on their locations based on the warmth of the coasts, and if they had large bodies of water nearby, and then if they were very populated areas.

(edit) Turns out I am blind and there is only one vault up there :( (Well luckily it gives me some more freedom in my own Fallout, plus Vault 21-B was supposed to be mostly if not completely a secret anyways soo.)

Anyways that's my review, very odd, very scattered and not really a review but shhhhh. It's okay because I enjoyed it and hope to see more, and hopefully it'll be even better. Sorry for how long this is BTW.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night Ending: I am the Wind

Ok sorry to suddenly cut to the ending sequence, I unfortunately lost the part that featured Galamoth.

At the same time however I really wanted to show off a little feature that is only, exclusively present in the japanese version of the game, and that is a small “Interview” feature that becomes available at the Master Librarian after completing the game at least once, where we can listen to some pre-recorder messages by the game’s japanese voice actors. There are no subtitles so I have no clue what they’re saying but it’s pretty cute!

I want to like the idea of Dracula not even bothering to fight himself, but rather turning his own throne into an eldritch abomination to fight us as he sits there with all the swag in the world. Unfortunately this thing occupies too much space on the screen making it very awkward to dodge its attacks unless you have the power up that allows you to turn into mist for prolonged periods of time. Even then by this point, if you’ve explored the Inverted Castle even half way decently, you should have obtained so much overpowered equipment and gained so many levels that you can easily brute force your way through this fight with little issue. I almost feel sorry for the old blood sucker.

And finally, because I don’t know where else to say this: no I will not do Richter mode

I can appreciate the basic concept, but not only is it clear as day that this level design was not made with Richter’s moveset in mind given how incredibly awkward it is just to get around, Richter here is the biggest and most extreme example of a glass cannon that I’ve ever seen

He can have both an unfairily hard time because he gets dealt a lot of damage and has no healing items, and also make the game so piss easy with Hydro Storm that it genuinely, LITERALLY becomes a “press X to win” scenario, unless you’re fighting Galamoth, whose fight I swear was never playtested with Richter because I’ve never seen anyone beat him without resorting to some wxtremely specific tactics

One thing I learned recently that the game does not inform you about is that for every Health Up that you find Richter’s max health increses, which you’d think sounds obvious but his actual health bar visibly always looks the same, so it’s still important to explore rather than just make a beeline to the final boss. Even so this doesn’t really fix the issue and Belmont modes are something that the next games undoubtably do much much better than Sotn

Favorite female character? Ilia Penny Pyrrha Ruby Nora(!!!!) Emerald Weiss and most of all… maria😔she’s so fucking funny i loved her energy v6. Further explanations, Ilia has an adorable design, great voice actor and decent enough representation. Nora’s timeskip design was unmatched and she’s very quotable, plus her personality reminds me of one of my close friends irl. Ruby’s struggles in V9 (until they fucked that up) really hit with me as I’d gone through something very similar, and Penny… Penny just makes me happy. What they did with her makes me angry, but Penny makes me smile. :D

Favorite male character? I got a couple but at the moment it’s tied by Sun and Roman. Sun has fun energy and Roman is himself and iconic. Others are: James is hot and so is the bad bird BF he got by being autistic. Mercury is cool for the 5 seconds of screentime he gets every volume now. Tyrian and Watts got impeccable swag and the 5 hour long make out scene between the two of them was very interesting. Adam is cathartic and fun as hell to write my little meow meow. Jaune is best when he’s just a little loser dork, and Ren is very pretty.

Favorite Volume? Surprise surprise, Volume 3. I fucking love tournament arcs. I. Love. Tournament. Arcs.

Favorite Episode? That whole Apathy Arc in V6!!! Great horror in my opinion. I wish they’d show off more creative Grimm like that again. And as a side note, V6 is just… the best looking volume.

Favorite cast member? If they count, Jeff and Casey!! SUCH good music.

Favorite ship? *cracks knuckles* Freezerburn, Catmeleon, Monochrome, Schne//ekos, Pussy Magnet Purrah, Greek fire, nuts and dolts, Bees Schnees, Khali, Spicecream, Seamonkeys, Emercury, If there’s one between Ilia and Ruby put it here, Ginger Snaps, Arctic Winter, Silver Lotus, *looks at writings on my palm* Snow pines, Ironqrow, James x Oz, Crimsun, Strawbana, Nuts and Volts, and Rosebird. To name a few. Some might not be my favorites, these are just ones I like/like in concept. :) Character I’d die defending? Sienna fucking Khan. The whole White Fang, honestly. I do think protesting through violence against your oppressors is very swag and real actually. Plus she’s hot.

A character I can’t sympathize with? Uhhhhhh…… SALEM!!!!!!!!!! Cinder too ish but Salem mostly. Like, I feel a TINY bit bad, only because the gods are undeniably awful garbage horrible terrible. She still sucks though.

A character I grew to love? …Adam. I did not give a single shit about his decently attractive redhead ass until that reveal and his death in V6. He has become my blorbo; my skrunkly. My cringefail loser, my girly pop. Engrained within my brain like a silly silly worm. He’s fun to draw. Fun to write. REALLY fun to write. I can put him in so many situations. So many bittersweet, melancholic situations. And in so many outfits.

Dragon Ball Super 002

All aboard the hindsight train. 

Okay, so this episode kind of sucks.  I feel a little awkward saying it after all these years, but I just watched it, and I stand by my assessment. 

When it aired, everyone was extremely excited, because we were still riding the high of Dragon Ball returning to a weekly TV anime.  On top of that, Episode 2 was a Vegeta episode, so that was a big deal.  On top of that, the episode was all about Vegeta going on a vacation with his family, so that was a big deal to the Vegebul side of the fandom.   When you stop and think about it, Vegeta and Bulma don’t really get a lot of screen time together.  This episode might be the most time we’ve seen them interact. 

And I don’t want to dismiss all of that.  Vegeta’s my second favorite character, and I’m into Bulma as well, and I’m not much of a shipper guy, but I like me some Vegebul content.  And I’m pleased they made an episode like this, buuuuut that doesn’t change the fact that it sucks. 

Let me explain.  You see those two screenshots up there?  Those were all over Tumblr in 2015.   The one with the train kind of speaks for itself.  Hey, they’re on some silly theme park ride, and Vegeta’s a grump about it!  The second one needs a little unpacking.  Bulma took an air-car/plane thing to the resort, because she can’t fly.  But Vegeta refused to ride inside the craft and stood on top of it the whole time.  So Bulma decided to mess with him a bit by speeding up and diving underwater and flying through a forest.  After that last one, Vegeta comes out of the trees with twigs in his hair and clothes. 

Fans liked this for the interaction between the couple, but there was also an easter egg in this shot, because those two fruits hanging off Vegeta’s hair are a durian and a pomelo.  In Japanese, pomelos are called “zarbon”, so this whole bit was a not-so-sly reference to Zarbon and Dodoria from DBZ.  So that got a lot of coverage. 

So when you see stills like these, and all the hype surrounding them, you might think this was a pretty eventful episode.  But then you watch it, and you realize... this is it.  That still with the train is just that.  A still.  It’s not animated in the show.  There’s no other shots or scenes with the train.  You just saw the entire train bit from DBS Episode 2.  Watching the episode just means you get to hear the voice actors talk over it for a few seconds.

Likewise, the bit with Vegeta standing on top of the plane is exactly what it says on the tin.  Vegeta just... stands there.  That part is animated, sure. It’s actually a decent highlight of the episode, because Bulma does some fancy maneuvers, but the punchline is that Vegeta doesn’t move and barely speaks through the whole thing. 

I’ve long maintained that the key to the Vegebul ship is how the fans have so many large gaps to fill in.  You just don’t see the characters interact that much, so even fleeting moments like Bulma calming Vegeta down after he gets covered in octopus ink are treasured like gold.  And that’s fine, because usually stuff like this is peppered into a larger plot.  But in DBS Episode 2, this is the plot.  We’re just watching Vegeta begrudgingly waste a day on a resort. 

Finally he just gets frustrated and leaves.  I hate this part of the episode, because they’re watching some sort of live show, and the guy hosting it goes out of his way to point out the guy who isn’t smiling, like “Hold on, everyone!  That guy isn’t smiling!  Let’s all stare at him and crowd around him until he does!” And damn, if that ain’t me. 

Tell you what, nothing actually happens in this episode, so let me use this time to go off on a rant.  I hate this kind of shit.  Every year, co-workers ask me if I’m watched the basketball game last night, and I didn’t.  I never do, because I don’t watch basketball.  I’m not interested, and I don’t expect I ever will be.  

I get it.  They don’t need me to have a conversation about sports; they can just talk to each other, but there’s this compulsion to bring me into it, so I won’t feel left out.  Except I’d still be left out, because I don’t watch the games.  And even if I did watch the games, I’d still be left out because I don’t enjoy them.  If this mattered to me, I would just break down and watch the games, but it doesn’t matter, so I don’t. 

This is why I don’t bring up my actual interests in the workplace.  I like Dragon Ball Z, but I never tell anyone that because I don’t want them to think I’m a huge weeb, but also because I don’t expect anyone to care much about my niche interests.  I try to respect the fact that it’s not worth bringing up, and it won’t make other people feel included, it’ll just be me babbling about something the other guy doesn’t know about. 

Sports and other mainstream things are different, though, because they’re more widely known, and there’s this cultural expectation that you sort of have to be familiar with them in order to socialize properly.   I remember once I had some other co-workers who eagerly talked about Lost and Heroes every week.  Same deal, except they didn’t try to bring me into it, which I appreciated.  But with some people, I can tell there’s this frustration, like “Why can’t you just watch the damn basketball games like a normal person, so I can talk to you?”

The thing is, I’ve done that before.  Not with sports, they suck ass, but I’ve watched shows and movies and things in an attempt to get to know someone else better, to relate to them better.  And it often just doesn’t work.  Like, I might enjoy the thing myself, but I don’t think it endears me to the other person any more than I would have managed otherwise.  Sometimes, I just end up further away than before, for whatever reason.  It’s not worth the trouble, at least if the motive is to socialize.  It’s not worth getting into Dr. Who or the Green Bay Packers just to impress someone, even if they’re really cool or sexy or whatever. 

So there is this notion of the reverse, where I feel like the message I get from some people is ��If you just watched the game last night, then you would be approachable.  Then you would be cool.  Then I could actually enjoy your company.”  And this implies that the stuff I do instead of watching the game last night is the problem.  I need to stop doing that so I can make time to watch the game last night, and then I’ll be Doing It Right.  That’s where I get annoyed, because it’s like some people I’ve known seem to think it’s a matter of wearing me down.  “When are you going to stop liking comic books?” “When are you going to stop liking Star Trek?”   “Aren’t you sick of this Dragon Ball show yet?”  “You know, you seem to like attractive women a little too much.”  These things are always couched like I somehow feel obligated to enjoy the things I enjoy, when the actual truth is that the other person just feels obligated to put up with it, like they’re doing me a favor by spending time with me, and I should show my appreciation by disguising myself as someone I’m not. If I just stopped being myself and started watching the game last night, then I’d be on the right track.  Sure I would.

The point I’m making here is that Vegeta’s into fighting, and training to surpass Goku, and the only reason he came on this trip at all was to honor that promise he made to Trunks way back in DBZ Episode 207.  That was months ago, and it was supposed to be an amusement park, not a resort, but Trunks considers this to be even better, so I guess it all works.  Anyway, Vegeta’s not imposing his interests on the other vacationers.  He doesn’t fight them all, is what I’m saying.  But Firedance MC still wants to call attention to his frowny face, and he wants everyone to know about it.  He’s not trying to make Vegeta smile because he wants Vegeta to feel better.  He’s trying to make Vegeta smile in order to make himself feel better.  If he actually cared about Vegeta’s mood, he wouldn’t be shaming him publicly. 

But we still have like eight minutes to go in this episode, so we fill it with Whis and Beerus screwing around.  Beerus wants dinosaur meat from some planet.  He thinks its delicious flavor will jog his memory of a vision he had recently.   So he gives Whis three minutes to fetch it.  Whis tries to simply take a fresh kill from a hunting party, but their leader takes offense, and Whis never just explains his case.   “Hey, my boss is the God of Destruction, and he’ll kill you if you don’t surrender your dinosaur.”  That would probably settle it right there, but no. 

So the hunter transforms and Beerus gets impatient and they fight and Beerus wins.  Then he gets annoyed and blows up the planet anyway, dinosaur and all.  As he watches the planet explode, he suddenly remembers the name of the figure he saw in his vision. So he doesn’t need the dinosaur meat after all. 

This is all an enormous waste of time, because of the following:

1) Everyone already saw Battle of Gods, so we already know where this is going.

2) Beerus already destroyed (half) a planet in the previous episode, so we already know he’s a capricious, self-centered prick in this show.

3) The fight with that hunter alien was pointless, because, again, we’ve already seen Battle of Gods, so we know Beerus isn’t going to lose to some rando alien.

4) Even when he finally remembers his vision, he keeps dragging it out anyway. 

Beerus: I remember now. 

Whis: Oh, do you?

Beerus: Yes, that figure I saw has a name.

Whis: And pray tell, what is this person’s name?

Beerus: It was... what was it?  I’m sure it started with an S...

Fuck...

It takes this guy two episodes to say the word “Super Saiyan God”, and it’s a big letdown because we already knew that from when he said it in the movie.  Who is this for? 

I guess I’ll close with this shot of the cruise ship.  Bulma spots this from the shore of the resort, and contemplates renting a cruise ship for her next birthday party, and Trunks seems to think this is a cool idea.  I mean, is it?  She’s already at a resort, and she’s dreaming about some other luxury getaway? 

I mostly wanted to bring up this ship because I think it might be the same ship we see in Episode 3, but I’m not sure there’s a way to tell.  Still, it kind of exposes the problem with this decompressed storytelling.  For whatever reason, Toei chose to retell the Battle of Gods movie across 14 episodes of this anime, and the boat was part of the strategy.  This way we can have a whole episode where Bulma prepares to launch the boat, you see.  If she had the party at home, like in the movie, you couldn’t do that. 

Also, you can have an episode like this one, where she gets the idea to use a boat.  The thing is, there’s nothing else for this episode to be about, so it’s just Bulma and her family on vacation.  And that would be fine, I guess, except this vacation is used to set up another pleasure trip right afterward.  It all just runs together, you know?  There’s no ups and downs to this plot.  It’s all just a flat, horizontal line, leading us slowly, inexorably, through the events of a popular movie the audience already saw.

Anyways Syringeon tells us about his plan to capture Josh in order to defeat sir Dadadoo, and it turns out it’s kinda his fault that Dadadoo has control of everyone right now as he’s the one who gave the queen’s scepter mind control abilities (somehow??? For some reason???) so he’s kinda stupid but it’s okay

I have nothing of importance to say about these guys I just think their dance moves rocked and their designs are goofy as hell (/aff)

flattered to be villain expert anon. i just want to finish up that the anon is objectively wrong (and i'm sorry but i learned so much about writing dissecting ygo when you go beyond oh silly cards games because there is so much talent and craft there, they don't actually pull in hack writers, they good writers in and then tie their hands) zexal is not the worst it just has a bad reputation. vrains is objectively the worst, do you know how bad a ygo spinoff cashcow has to be to be cancelled a third of the way into its run and get ygo pulled off air for 2 years? all the seasons have pros and cons and honestly solid writing in various areas that sync really well with some of the stuff that aftg really sucks at discussing (go sit and the corner and think about what you've done aftg fandom when ygo fandom is more mature and better at nuance than you):

DM: mostly filler and iffy animations but amazing once it gets to egypt several hundred episodes in (aka the bit the mangaka was actually invested in)

GX: fun school romp, fascinating descent into madness for the mc, rushed ending because the mc's voice actor wasn't booked properly so had to rush the important scenes and cut everything else.

5Ds: the older edgier darker atmosphere that doesn't stick the landing, wanted to be about cults and inequality (if you want cults 5Ds arcadia is great, they actually attempt to sympathetically tackle what it's like to leave a cult when you were their poster child) and does a really good job in the first half (also just everything about the dark signers is peak ygo fanservice), before the director got sick of the board forcing product placement over story and changing things last second so he couldn't even adjust properly so left to do symphogear (a show mostly unknown over in english fandoms but is one of the most anime anime ever and regularly goes toe to toe with giants like HQ, AOT, YoI and MHA for ratings), and also the tokyo subway cult attack happened and one of the voice actresses was in said cult, so a quick rewrite was done that made no sense.

Zexal: is the best villain writing in the series, pick a villain type it's got it and it's written it pretty damn well, has the best rating for any spinoff in japan and the only one of the first run of spinoffs not to have controversy, making it more cohesive as a whole, but it has a brighter style to hide the darker themes, and a younger protagonist, used as a jumping on point for new younger fans and even fans suggest skipping to episode 12/13 to avoid the worst of that and get into the plot when the real villains start appearing.

Arc-V: (pronounced 5, which sucks because Zexal spent its entire run telling us V= vee) the 5Ds director returns, then has the same issue of the board interfering just as a new season of symphogear is confirmed so leaves half way again, and once again you can tell (ygo fandom loves to blame director ono for shit he wasn't even there for), but if you want a decently good story about forcing yourself to bury your emotions and just be happy, the horrors of war and the realities of making children save the world, it's a pretty good one until about episode 80, honestly does a great job of tackling child soldiers and their cult mindset and what happens when that is challenged and the various reactions from rejection all the way up to well i've done too much shit to change paths now to the ygo equivalent of suicide.

Vrains: so much potential absolutely wasted, a really good attempt to tackle childhood trauma and abuse and ptsd and the need for revenge on your abusers and how far it can take you but plagued by behind the scenes drama that left the show itself a mess that got cancelled only a third of the way in.

all to say ygo gets written off as a dumb show about a dumb card game but its got some real writing talent hidden in there the same way aftg has if you're willing to pay attention and have some media literacy. and i am sorry for forcing my ygo has good writing once you get through the bullshit opinions on you

alright DONE so ive already said most of the stuff i want to say but here are some final thoughts:

so i'm attempting to look at this both on its own merit and in its context as The Disney Movie Movie.

first of all, it's okay. it's not good by any means. it's tropey and floundering and hard to keep track of.

the characters feel underbaked. asha is fine, but overplayed and not super unique or memorable. magnifico is just a really boring and then very suddenly very cliche villain. all the hype around him is bad imo, he is not a better character than asha.

the animation isn't stunning, but it doesn't deserve the hate it's getting. it looks strange and wrong and it's super disappointing considering the absolute masterpieces of animation we've seen in the past several years (encanto, luca, raya, onward, say what you will about modern disney but their animation is absolutely beautiful). the backgrounds are pretty good. the character designs are relatively boring.

now, granted, maybe i shouldnt be defending the animation, since i watched this whole movie in a 3 by 4 inch window in the corner of my laptop screen while doing the world's most distracted research so. i'm sure it's different up close.

from everything i heard, i was expecting wayyy more obvious disney references all over the place, and while i definitely noticed some, it wasn't actually too bad.

the Sidekick Teens. there are like.. 7 of them?? i do not remember their names or really what they look like or much about them. extremely forgettable, too many of them, designs are boring, and there wasn't a good reason to include them tbh. they didn't even play a major role in the Final Battle!!

songs were not very catchy and like i said the lyrics were kind of uniquely awful. i've talked about this already. really bad music with no consistency or wow factor. they didn't fit together, they didn't seem fitted to any characters in particular, they didn't stick in my mind a bit. honestly it just felt like a chore to get through the song so we could move on. lyrics fucking blow, honestly i think the more poetic bits of this post are better written and im not even lying to you

the plot is kind of awful. ive said a lot already. trying to go for the Inspiring Truth-Teller Rebellious Girl Leads Her People To Freedom and yeah that did happen i guess but it was so muddy and so unclear in its own message. i completely understand the "written by ai" allegations because genuinely, it does feel disjointed and misguided in its intended principles, story, themes, and morals, about as much as it would if an ai really had written it. very disappointing, since i do think the premise could have worked if this movie didn't try so hard to be about wishing upon a star.

in a similar vein, the three different themes here - Following Your Dreams, Magic Inside Us All, and Wishes Are What Keep Hope Alive - are all fighting for the main storyline. the way the film resolves this is by pretending that those three things are actually the same thing. which they are obviously not upon any close examination. it also seems to be attempting to resolve societal issues through individual achievement, which sucks but also not unexpected. however - they do sort of stop doing that by the end, and societal change is brought about by a community effort to strive against the oppressor and rise up in hope/dreams/star-ness (stardom?). so that's cool. props to them.

i like to talk about voice acting when i do these as well. vas were overall relatively decent! asha's was quite good, her lines and expressions just pushed it over-the-top a bit. magnifico was fine. i mentioned i think dahlia's voice doesn't suit her. otherwise i didn't have any issues with the voice acting, good job actors! except for in the songs. asha in particular has that "cursive singing" voice that she's trying to keep down, and does a pretty good job of avoiding, but sometimes the pronunciation is unclear or oddly embellished. and as i said magnifico sounds like autotuned lin manuel miranda ai mixed with, like, hugh jackman or smth. did not enjoy their performances which just made the songs worse because THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES WHO SANG SONGS!!!! (for the most part)

so yeah. overall, wish (2023) is a forgettable, nothing-new movie with particularly bad musical numbers and unfortunately complicated writing.

ugh this took me AGES i got distracted throughout the movie and then i'd pause it for 5-10 minutes at a time to complain lmao. here i am we're finally done. it's over.

i rate wish (2023) a 1.5 out of 8 blatant disney references. not good. will not be watching again willingly. not very enjoyable, and that's disappointing because i often really enjoy not-good movies!!

2. horrible bosses 1 (I haven't seen 2). it's an objectively lame movie. there is an annoying sexual harassment plotline that's just used as a joke. however most of the movie is pretty funny plus it has jasons sudekis and bateman and them with Charlie are fun lol. it's just a good brainless watch and Charlie's character is suuuch a malewife obsessed with his fiance <3

5. I want you back. I can't believe this came out in FEBRUARY?! it feels like forever ago. it's not the greatest movie of all time but it IS Charlie Day as a romantic lead therefore it IS a great movie. and jenny slate is incredible in it. <3 they're precious together and if you want to cry. go for it.

6. going the distance. bad stupid romance movie. what's her name... the tomboyish cute lead girl. she's ok. anyways Dan (charlie) and his comedic duo character are so in love. this is the one where Dan canonically cries during sex and can suck his own dick. and there's already a fic for that out there (you're welcome <3)

7. vacation ? he plays a frantic depressed heartbroken tour guide and it's kinda cute.

I swing up and down on my excitement for The Batman (2022) from like moderately interested to severely disappointed. The reason being that I am kinda fucking sick to death of Edgelord Supreme Batman and the specific brand comic nerds that swarm around the release of edgy batman movies.

--You know the types. The very white very misogynistic ones who think "I've never met a girl who was into comics before" is a high quality pick up line--

But like if we are gonna have another dark edgy I Am Vengeance Batman then start-of-his-career-first-time-unleashing-his-trauma-in-the-form-of-fursuit-vigilantism-Batman is absolutely the way to go. Enough with the jaded I've-been-doing-this-for-years-and-Gotham-still-sucks-and-I'm-still-sad-and-lonely-Batman. Dude kinda sucks in that form.

Baby Batsy just figuring out where his lines actually are in practice and how fucked up of a ride he's signing himself up for is at least interesting and so there in lies my excitement, when I can feel it.

However remember that mention of being severely disappointed? Yeah, let's get back to that, because I've just figured out a big part of why I'm disappointed by this movie that isn't even out yet.

Initially I thought it was just because once again we are getting a Batman without ANY of the Robins. Batman is a brilliantly nuanced character who can stand on his own in general but you lose SO much of what makes him interesting and fundamentally Batman if you don't give him someone lighter/younger to play off of. So having him on his own consistently just gets bland.

He's like rice. A fucking great staple. Can really hit the spot on its own sometimes. Sometimes. However generally it should almost be eaten alongside or mixed with something else if you're gonna be eating consistently.

Give us a Batman and Robin and let us witness Bruce slip into his adoption addiction.

And while this remains a pretty big portion of why I am disappointed there is something more.

When I saw Robert Pattinson was gonna be Batsy I was unsure--Twilight and Cedric Diggory weighed heavy in my mind--but then I realised, with the discovery of there being no Robin, that it'd be fine.

This many times around with the signature no direct light sources style of filming fucking anyone can do batman so long as they can do a halfway decent glare and a kinda growly voice. Between the shadows, stuntmen, near monosyllabic dialogue for 80% of the time, and costuming you could seamlessly make a Batman movie with a different Batman actor in every scene and if you didn't credit every actor then most people probably would only pick out like 5 max and it'd be a massive conspiracy. Honestly, it'd be fun to see.

But anyways!

I realised tonight that the other reason I so quickly came to accept the idea of Robert Pattinson as Batman and why I'm so god damn disappointed by the concept of this movie isn't just that it wouldn't make sense for him to have a Robin, it's that it wouldn't make sense for us to see Brucie Wayne.

And Robert Pattinson would do a phenomenal Brucie Wayne!

Think about it for a second.

Robert "Kissed Taylor Lautner so Kristen Stewart wouldn't have to at an awards show" Pattinson.

Robert "crashed the Order of the Phoenix premiere after eating pizza and beer all summer just coz" Pattinson.

Robert "spent a GQ interview microwaving pasta while trying to make a new hand held pasta dish" Pattinson.

That mother fucker could be put on a red carpet set and given exactly 2 directions.

He can't be moody, grimdark, or angry

And then just let loose using his own general knowledge of how red carpet events are meant to go to just fucking ad lib it while everyone else read from actual scripted lines.

You can't convince me they wouldn't get some quality Brucie Wayne shenanigans out of that scenario. The only reason they'd need multiple takes is to ensure the full info needed for the scene got across and that people weren't laughing too much.

Dude could absolutely make the "do the butts match" joke feel natural on screen.

And the movie is gonna be too dark and gritty to give us anything even remotely in the fucking vicinity of Brucie Wayne and that is one of the major reasons I am pre-emptively disappointed by The Batman (2022).

Thoughts on the 2022 MH Movie

Alrighty, I think I’ve observed enough to throw my thoughts out into the fandom. Obviously, everything g1 reigns supreme in my heart and I personally was not a fan of g2, but g3 seems to be relatively okay so far. Like it’s barely passing, but it’s passing. Don’t worry, I’ll try not to be a scathing or anything, just my random thoughts and opinions.

Now, the movie. Oof. In general, I am not a fan of live action movies and think animated media is the way to go, especially with a show like Monster High that has so many unique character designs, models, and powers. With animation, the show has the ability to get kooky and freaky with its characters’ emotions and powers without it looking tacky or cringy on low-budget CGI and actors. That being said, the Monster High movie was okay, very average.

What I liked or thought was okay:

Going in and watching it, I had to constantly remind myself that g3 is a reboot. Thus, I need to disconnect all I knew about previous incarnations and just observe these characters as separate. That definitely made the watching experience more enjoyable.

I thought the actors did okay and worked well with what they were given, which wasn’t a lot but they worked with it. The dances were hilarious. Some of those backup dancers were putting their heart and soul into their moves. XD

The movie was okay plot wise. Very generic but I was able to follow along and it set a decent basis for the new g3 material and lore.

Frankie. G1 Frankie never was my favorite character because she was such a plain main character, but I really love movie Frankie. Their quirkiness is one of the very few saving graces of the movie. I was afraid they would come off as annoying but I genuinely loved their scenes.

Now, I must admit, I am a greater fan of side characters in most shows than main characters, Abbey being no exception in MH. I personally loved her design and costume. Her hair! I love it! One of the few looks in the movie that were good in my opinion. Also, just the sheer joy and relief at seeing her back after g2 wiped her away. (a huge reason the g2 movies sucked.) (the g2 series was acceptable in my book since those included her)

Those tiny blink and you’ll miss it moments of Heath and Abbey interacting in the background is what kept me going through this movie.

The songs. The only other saving grace besides Abbey and Frankie. I must admit, I generally enjoy musicals so that gets a pass from me. Once again, pretty generic but they’ve all got good voices. Coming Out of the Dark and the Three of Us were my favorites.

Personality-wise, Draculara was okay and her outfit was pretty cute. You just have to remember to separate g1 Draculara in your mind from what we have now. I kind of like the perfectionistic pressure we see her getting from her dad. A very basic trait but I like it because it’s relatable for most perfectionists (me).

Clawdeen’s dad is so sweet and supportive. One of the best original things to come out from the movie.

What I disliked:

While the overall plot was passable, there were so many things that didn’t make sense.

like half human, half werewolf? Really?! Why? She’s 75% human? There was no point!

Also, that whole skatepark scene that shows Clawdeen’s ears? I guarantee no human would’ve batted an eye about that. I just found that whole scene ridiculous.

Monsters hate witches and witchcraft? Frick Casta Fierce, amiright.

but then Cleo mentions she did magic when she used to be human? Like, what?

Then there’s Draculara, a vampire, chilling over in the corner practicing witchcraft in the toilet. Huh? What correlation does she have to witchcraft?

Clawdeen x Deuce?! No. NO! Just absolutely NO!

The entire humans hate monsters thing and vice versa is such a flat plot point. So much for MH being accepting of everyone and their freaky flaws. I really miss that core message.

I seriously miss the variety of familiar characters. I get though that formulating costumes and renewing the rights to all their characters would be tedious, but still! Gimme all my babies back!

Isn’t Heath’s actor older than most of the cast? He definitely looks it.

I’m kinda between on this but I mostly dislike that it’s reminiscent of Disney Descendants quality but on an even cheaper budget. Did they have to do the choreography like that?

Cleo and Deuce break up is a major hate factor for me. There wasn’t enough elaboration or reason given. WHY?!

Also, where are Cleo’s bandages???

Lagoona. I know a lot of the fandom disliked the entire revamp. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t completely despise it. I think they should’ve renamed her to just be a completely different character or Lagoona’s cousin or something.

The Jekyll and Hyde villain was not it. Did not really enjoy it but at least he had reasonable motives I guess. Like, it’s heavily implied his dad got lynched, pretty gutsy move.

Also, the villain power up climax was really anticlimactic for me. Like he drinks the potion and has the ability to take everyone’s powers and no one runs away! The farthest they run is outside. Then, they all just stand there and talk it out and Komos stands there all powered up doing nothing. Bro, if they don’t have the common sense to run, just attack already.

Ghoulia. They’ve massacred my poor girl. I don’t know what else to say. (Not blaming the actress at all.)
